Spoilers from EW

So now that we know the super-secret identity of Quinn… something’s been bothering me. In episode 14 of Season 3, “The Bracket,” Barney’s busy trying to figure out which of his past conquests is sabotaging his current attempts on women, and has the revelation after Lily is met by her. Lily suggests that it’s Karma, to which Barney replies, “No, she’s stripping in Vegas.” Could it be? Has Barney’s love interest been under his nose the whole time? — Jacob

I love this so much, Jacob! If I had a gold star right now, I’d give it to you. In fact, why don’t you go to the kitchen, make one out of foil, come back, give it to me, and I’ll give it back to you. What I love most of all about it? It could be correct. After all, Craig Thomas told me that part of what he loved about the character Quinn was her enigmatic nature. Who’s more mysterious than the still-unseen woman who tried to block Barney’s mojo? “The gang doesn’t know — and the audience doesn’t know — what to think because of what starts to come up between them. It’s a really hard to read the relationship at first,” Thomas told me last week. “I think people watching at home will all have different opinions. She’s definitely a character who keeps Barney and the audience guessing. I think Becky [Newton] likes playing that. She’s hard to read — you don’t know if she’s good news or bad news.” In fact, he added, an upcoming episode will touch on that very theme.

Sandra, your HIMYM scoops are second to none! But I haven’t seen anything on Marshmallow and Lily. Anything to report? — Julia

There’s a curveball coming this week. It’s not about the baby, but “there’s definitely a big shift that happens for them in the episode,” says Thomas. “And it’s cool.”

Okay, so it sounds like they are going to be ambiguous from here on out on Quinn. She's probably going to start acting as if she really likes Barney so they're trying to keep us guessing if she's really still playing him. But I'm sure she still is. Why show us that scene with her talking to her friend, saying how much she loves his apartment and money but not him? Now they're just trying to plant some doubt as to if she's suddenly had a change of heart so we can think she might actually be the bride. But obviously there still must be signs that something isn't right or else why would the gang be suspicious of her at all?

Also the whole thing about her being the same Karma from Season 3 I seriously doubt because he slept with that Karma and made such a big deal about how he never forgets a woman he slept with. Plus this article is just wrong about "the still-unseen woman who tried to block Barney’s mojo". That was the Britney Spears character, Abby.

As for Marshall and Lily, I wonder if this is where they move back to the city again.

ETA: Back to Quinn, I find it interesting that Craig says "you don’t know if she’s good news or bad news" and that it's "really hard to read the relationship at first". That indicates to me that later on it will become clear one way or the other if she's good or bad (perhaps when Ted finds out this secret?).

It was Britney though, wasn't it? She was the saboteur. Methinks EW is a little confused.

I honestly think the "Karma" was just a throwaway line that they've forgotten about. They're enjoying the idea of Karmic payback now. And it was in The Bracket that Barney always remembers his conquests

I don't understand why so many people have forgotten that Barney's saboteur was found a few episodes after the braket. I guess "everything must go" wasn't the greatest of episodes, but people bring it up as an unsolved mystery so often when it hasn't been for a long time.

I think you're right about this being a new Karma - although if it was the same one it would make the whole Quinn arc maybe a little more interesting - it may explain a little why they're moving so fast at least.

I don't know why everyone forgot Britney/Abbey was the mysterious girl, either! I guess I've seen "Everything Must Go" several times because it's one of my sister's favorites (she likes the "gay boots" plotline because of an inside joke she has with her friend, haha) but still, that seems like something that you'd remember. I can't believe someone reporting on the show actually forgot, though...

And I hear you on the last part! It sounds like they're just having her be a totally new character, but I think the whole thing would be way more interesting if they tied it into the throwaway line from "The Bracket." They still could, but it doesn't sound like they're going to.

I'd forgotten that it was the episode with the first mention of the red cowboy boots! It had a couple of other decent moments as well come to think of it, the "guy forces his wife to dress in a garbage bag for the next three years" website and some handling of Marshall and Lily's debt.

I guess it just gets lost in the mush of episodes where Ted had broken up with Barney. Maybe because so much else happened in that episode and the ones around it the stalker bit is forgotten or maybe people just expected more out of it so forgot it was in that (rather insignificant) episode.

What made it great was Ted didn't wear his cowboy boots properly as in you pull your jeans over your boots. No, he tucked his jeans into his boots to say to the rule "Look at me... I am possibly a gay man or a five year old girl. Pick whichever one makes you crack up more."

To be honest, I thought that the girl could be Quinn too. I know it was supposed to be Abby, but the girl really didn't look like her at all. She looked exactly like Quinn, which is kind of weird, since her character wasn't even thought up yet. I'm not saying she definitely is, because it was said to be Brittany.

However, I do think this Karma is the same Karma.

Actually, if you listen to the audio commentary on 'The Bracket', they reveal that it actually was Britney Spears who did that rear head shot where 'the mystery woman' is talking to Lily (and where you catch a glimpse of her across the bar at the end). They commented on it particularly, saying how cool it was of her to come in and do a shot where they could really have used any blonde extra because her face wasn't shown.

I really don't think this is the same Karma at all. I think someone at EW hasn't done their Season 3 research. It was pretty unequivocally stated that the saboteur was Abby. The writers are probably regretting that 'Karma' joke back then, which I think was just a throwaway line - but I guess they could argue that there's bound to be more than one stripper in the world who goes by that pseudonym. Also, the fact that people are speculating about this racks up the mystery for them, which is clearly what they want right now.

Since the writers had already decided to give Quinn the stripper name "Karma", at least they could've tied her in with the one mentioned in S3. But Barney doesn't remember her so this doesn't seem like a continuity nod. I don't even know. I just don't have any enthusiasm for the season anymore.

The bond could be true. But it is very likely it is just a coincidence. I think that as soon as her identity was revealed old Ted could have remembered everyone about that. No point in keeping the audience oblivious to that. We already know she's a stripper, it wouldn't be that much of a surprise for us to know that she actually knew Barney. The real interesting part would be Barney discovering that.

tl;dr - It's just a coincidence.

I hope that Marshall and Lily move back to the city, it would allow the whole to be together more often.

It's really hard to read these spoilers without thinking something else entirely will happen so I am not going to read too much into this.

I am just so emotional over Barney right now and I need to take time to get over what i've read already.

I hope Lily/Marshall move back to the city cause they don't belong in the suburbs at all especially Lily.

I think the series has implied that Barney is pretty much a clot when it comes to other people's feelings. As in he thinks you're on good terms and you're trying to wring his oddly skinny for a guy neck.

Poor Neil, Jason and Josh have bigger diameter necks than he. With the longness and slenderness of it and combined with the unique shape of his head, if you look at NPH from the right angle, it looks like he's trying to balance a watermelon on top of a pencil. But in a cute way.

Lolz.. poor Barney/Neil... :P Though I must say, I actually find his nice slender neck quite attractive!

Same here. He's got a neck made for doing extremely naughty things to.

I don't think Quinn is the same Karma from "The Bracket" b/c Barney said he never forgets the women he sleeps with. It bothers me that so many people have forgotten that Abby (Britney Spears) was the mysterious woman sabotaging Barney. These people need to go and rewatch S3's "Everything Must Go."

I think the Lily and Marshall plot in this next upcoming episode probably is just Robin moving in with them and nothing more.

Agreed.

It might be the same Karma though. His hard drive might be filled to capacity with Robin now. Robin eclipses all other bpegs and whatever file formats Barney may use.

I'm still going with my theory that this whole thing is a scheme or a challenge accepted. Perhaps he knows she's a stripper. Or he just forgot.

I think Quinn is a different Karma than the one in Vegas. In the "Drunk Train", Quinn's friend is shocked that Barney does not recognize Quinn as "he is in here all the time." If it was the Karma from Vegas, who Barney apparently still talks to and is on good terms with, then I'm sure Quinn's friend would not have said that. It seems that Quinn is a regular at the strip club and that it is just a coincidence that her name is "Karma." At least I hope so otherwise I'll be really worried that Quinn is a bride candidate because Barney told his dad in Hopeless when Jerome mentioned meeting the right girl to settle down with, Barney said "Maybe I met her already." I always took this as 100% Barney referring to Robin, but if Quinn is the Karma from Vegas then the writers could make her a legitimate bride candidate without negating anything previously said on the show. Please writers don't torture me too much, my heart can't take it.

They're just messing with you to make you think that. Don't fall into their trap! ;-))

Yeah I doubt that the writers actually think that we'll fall in love with her and Barney in a few episodes while we've had 7 seasons of B/R buildup.

On second thought, I don't know though since they seem capable of that level of insanity.

I don't know what to think of Barney Quinn and Robin.

Robin doesn't even care. Barney is head over heels for this chick, and we don't even know what Quinn is up to yet. Ugh..I'm going to go crazy by the end of this season.
